Saints Not Sinners

Standard

Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God. So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil. Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God. (‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭9-10‬ NLT)

When Adam disobeyed God, sin entered and infected the whole world.

Even though we are sinners in this life, that is not really the end of the story. As Christians, we are now image bearers of God and we are made saints in Christ.

A child of God is easily distinguishable from the child of the devil. The former does not keep on sinning because God is alive in him.

If you are a child of God and you follow Christ, sin has no power over you. You are no slave of sin. God has already defeated the power of sin your life. Ask for His help to get you out of whatever it is you are struggling with.

Your identity in Christ is that of a saint and not a sinner.

The Metamorphosis

Standard

Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (‭II Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭16-17‬ NKJV)

We all know how beautiful butterflies look like.

They have colorful and elegant wings. They fly gracefully and we just love looking at them.

However, before butterflies came to be, they were once caterpillars. Caterpillars are not that beautiful. They just crawl and we avoid them most of the time. They are not just that good to look at.

Caterpillars undergo a process called metamorphosis where their old ugly self transforms into a beautiful butterfly.

Our Christian lives are also like that. We were once ugly sinners. But, through our faith in Christ we are now beautiful saints.

We are now a new creation in Christ. Our old worldly self is gone.

My Ministry: Broken Pots Wanted

Standard

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. (Ephesians 2:4, 5 NIV)

Showing mercy needs humility and understanding not arrogance and pride.

Nobody likes to listen to Christians who arrrogantly boast that they have no sin and that they are the holiest ones.

People listen to those with humble hearts and willing to admit that they were once a fool and that God showed mercy on them.

Be the latter. We are God’s broken pots. Our cracks, dents and chips don’t disqualify us.

God’s mercy was shown to the unworthy. The truth is that Christ came for sinners like you and me.
